Jiri Cano est né le 20 mai 1960 à Strani, un village pittoresque de Moravie situé près de la frontière slovaque. Il grandit dans un environnement familial où la musique occupe une place importante. Son grand-père était musicien, sa mère chantait dans plusieurs ensembles de musique traditionnelle. En 1988, il obtient un premier prix de clarinette au Conservatoire National de Strani dans la classe de Valtr Vitak ainsi qu'un premier prix de direction d'orchestre dans la classe de Joseph Stanek. Jiri CAÑO a été clarinette solo de l'Orchestre d'Harmonie de la Police de 1978 à 1998, date à laquelle il est nommé à la tête de l'Orchestre d'Harmonie de la Police de la République Tchèque (ancien orchestre d'harmonie du Ministère de l'Intérieur de la République Tchèque) basé à Ostrava.Jiri Cano was born on May 20th 1960 in Strani, a picturesque village in the Marisch-Slovak border area. Since his youth he has been surrounded by music. His grandfather was a musician, his mother sang in various folklore ensembles. In 1988 he graduated from the State Conservatoire in clarinet, which he studied with Professor Valtr Vitak, and conducting, which he studied with Professor Josef Stanek. He became solo clarinettist with the Police Band in 1978 and in 1998 conductor with the Central Band of the Home Office of the Czech Republic. Nowadays it is called "The Police Band of the Czech Republic" which is based in Ostrava.Jiri Cano wurde am 20. Mai 1960 in strani, einem malerischen Dorf im märisch-slowakischen Grenzgebiet, geboren. Seit seiner Jugednzeit war er von einem musikalischen Milieu umgeben. Sein Großvater war schon musiker, seine Mutter sang in verschiedenen Folklore-Ensembles. Er absolvierte im Jahre 1988 das Staatskonservatorium, wo er bei Professor Valtr Vitak Klarinette und bei Professor Josef Stanek Dirigieren studiert hatte. Seit 1978 war er als Soloklarinettist beim Polizeiorchester beschäftigt, und im Jahre 1998 wurde er Dirigent des "The Police Band of the Czech Republic" mit Sitz in Ostrava.
