Largement connue du monde chrétien, elle a été associée à différents textes dans différents pays. Mais cet hymne était à l'origine un noël relatant un moment particulier de l'histoire de la Nativité : la visite de l'ange Gabriel aux bergers. Cette composition simple et expressive présente la mélodie de Quem Pastores Laudavere à trois reprises. Le thème est exposé dans un premier temps dans le pupitre des trombones puis repris par les bois avant d'être restitué une dernière fois par l'orchestre d'harmonie en entier.
