TROMBONERésumé : C'est à la demande de Monsieur de Rémusat, ministre de l'Intérieur, que Berlioz se vit commander début 1840 une symphonie militaire afin de commémorer le transfert des cendres des victimes de la Révolution de 1830 dans la colonne de la Place de la Bastille. La Symphonie Funèbre et Triomphale a été écrite en deux parties : la première était destinée à être jouée par une fanfare de deux cent musiciens conduisant les dépouilles des victimes, la seconde devant être exécutée sur la place pendant la cérémonie d'inhumation des corps, un grand chœur venant clore l'ensemble de l'œuvre.
