Giancarlo Gazzani est né à Rome en 1941. Il a étudié le trombone, la composition et la direction d'un orchestre. Musicien éclectique, il a exercé son activité en tant que chef de différentes orchestres symphoniques et rythmiques. Auteur de musique pour des commentaires sonores, il a également réalisé de nombreuses compositions originales et des transcriptions pour un orchestre d'instruments à vent. Il est actuellement titulaire de la chaire d'Exercices orchestraux au Conservatoire de Turin.Was born in Rome 1941. He studied trombone, composition and orchestra conducting. He was then a student at the "Accademia Musicale Chigiana" of Siena, where he studied orchestra conducting, reading and harmonizing with Hermann Scherchen and Bruno Rigacci; following this he studied with Franco Ferrara and Daniele Paris. From 1967 - 69 he was orchestra director for R.C.A. (sound-track) and he directed, for the "Ente Autonomo del Teatro Comunale" in Bologna the first performance in Europe of "Jazz Mass" by Lalo Schifrin. In this period he also took part, directing an orchestra, in a festival dedicated to Gershwin which was held in Venice. From 1970 he has directed the "Orchestra Ritmo-Sinfonica of the R.A.I." in Rome, recording for radio, television and cinema productions. He has composed many pieces, sound tracks and arrangements for wind orchestra. For many years he has collaborated with "Radio Stoccarda" writing for Erwin Lehen. Having taught in the "G. Verdi" Conservatory since 1979, he has been able to create a greate number of performances and concerts directing a lot of new young orchestras. From 1994, besides his activities as orchestra director, he has held seminars for the school of "Alto Perfezionamento musicale" of Saluzzo, near Turin.Giancarlo Gazzani kam 1941 in Rom zur Welt. Er studierte Posaune, Komposition und Orchesterleitung. Als vielseitiger Musiker arbeitete er als Dirigent von verschiedenen Symphonie- und Unterhaltungsorchestern. Er schuf Musik für Tonberichte, sowie zahlreiche Originalkompositionen und Transkriptionen für Blasorchester. Derzeit hat er den Lehrstuhl für das Orchesterspiel am Konservatorium Turin inne.
