Pianiste de jazz dans diverses formations, Guy Luypaerts est affecté en 1939 au théâtre aux armées où il devient l'accompagnateur de Charles Trenet. L'année suivante, il forme à Toulouse l'orchestre qui accompagne les spectacles de music-hall au Plaza et devient l'arrangeur de Jo Bouillon. En 1942, il enregistre chez Polydor et accompagne Edith Piaf dans ses récitals et ses enregistrements. A la libération, il dirige un orchestre de 50 musiciens pour une série d'émissions de radio consacrées à la musique symphonique légère. Puis il entreprend une longue tournée à l'étranger. Aux U.S.A. il enregistre quatre albums pour la firme Capitol : Gershwin, Rodgers, Berlin, Cole Porter, dans une série intitulée "Portraits Symphoniques". De retour en Europe, il dirige divers orchestres à Bruxelles, Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Monte-Carlo, Stockholm, etc, les concerts Colonne et écrit des chansons pour A. Cordy, Yves Montand, Georges Ulmer... En 1970, la SACEM lui décerne le Prix de Musique Symphonique Légère. Après une carrière de Pianiste, Chef d'orchestre, il se tourne vers la composition pour Orchestre d'Harmonie. En 1987, la SACEM lui attribue pour la seconde fois, fait très rare, le Prix de Musique Symphonique Légère. The following year, he forms in Toulouse the orchestra which accompanies the music-hall at the Plaza and becomes the arranger of Jo Bouillon. In 1942 he records at Polydor and accompanies Edith Piaf in her recitals and her recordings. After the liberation he conducts an orchestra of 50 musicians for a series of radio broadcasts devoted to the light symphonic music. Then he undertakes a long tour abroad. In the U.S.A. he records four albums for the Capitol firm: Gershwin, Rodgers, Berlin, Cole Porter, in a series entitled "Symphonic Portraits". Returning to Europe he conducts various orchestras in Brussels, Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Monte-Carlo, Stockholm, etc, the Colonne concerts and he writes songs for A. Cordy, Yves Montand, George Ulmer... In 1970 the SACEM awards him the Price of Light Symphonic Music. After a career as pianist and conductor, he turns to the composition for concert band. In 1987 the SACEM offers him for the second time, which is unique, the Price of Light Symphonic Music. In den U.S.A. nimmt er vier Alben für das Unternehmen Capitol auf: Gershwin, Rodgers, Berlin, Cole Porter in einer Serie mit der Bezeichnung "symphonische Porträts". Nach seiner Rückkehr in Europa leitet er verschiedene Orchester in Brüssel, Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Monte Carlo, Stockholm usw. die Konzerte Kolonne und Schriftstück der Lieder für A. Cordy, Yves Montand, Georges Ulmer... Im Jahre 1970 verleiht das SACEM ihm den Preis für leichte symphonische Musik. Nach einer Pianistenkarriere, Orchesterchef wird er Arrangeur für Harmonieorchester. Im Jahre 1987 erhält er von SACEM zum zweiten Mal den Preis für leichte symphonische Musik, was sehr selten ist. Guy LUYPAERTS stellt ohne jeglichen Zweifel eine der Blüten der französischen Popular-Musik dar.
